U.S. Send Aircraft Carrier to Help Philippines

Previously, the U.S. committed to contribute U.S. $ 20 million for the Philippines.

Reported by Channel News Asia, the aircraft carrier USS George Washington was docked in the middle of Hong Kong harbor and is expected to arrive in the Philippines on Tuesday, 12 November 2013. The aircraft carrier carrying 5,000 sailors and 80 aircraft and helicopters.


"To accompany the aircraft carrier, also lowered cruiser USS Antietam and USS Cowpen, and the destroyer USS Mustin. Logistics ship USNS Charles Drew middle to get there and will meet with the other ship," a Pentagon statement said.

"If necessary, ships and aircraft can provide humanitarian assistance, logistics, and medical and government efforts to support the military of the Republic of the Philippines," the Pentagon said.
