'Ender's Game' : New Hero minus the drama

Newstovote - Long before the books young adult genre - whether it's about vampires or young children who are struggling in the dystopian future - ' Ender 's Game ' by Orson Scott Card had already been hits in the mid-80s. Combining sci : fi and political struggles that occurred at that time, the series instantly became an idol for young people of his time. Spotted fever infecting young adult genre in Hollywood this year there is a ' Beautiful Creatures ', ' The Host ' and of course ' Mortal Instruments ' boring - it is not surprising that the fruit of Scott Card directly into the next queue to be appointed to the big screen.

Ender Wiggins ( Asa Butterfield ), a 16 year old boy, the youngest of three brothers, is a cute rabbit that could bite. He was tall and thin, like a child who does not look dangerous. But, try to fight, maybe you 'll end up in the hospital.

The ability to look low-profile but has great power behind cold eyes and intelligence to manage strategy war finally make Ender recruited by Colonel Graff ( Harrison Ford ).

In contrast to her siblings , Ender always know how to regulate emotions. Not as wild as Peter ( Jimmy Pinchak ), but also not melancolist Valentine ( Abigail Breslin ), Ender is the most promising youngsters who have been recruited by Graff. Although Gwen Anderson ( Viola Davis ) always expressed concern, however, is not one of choice Graff.

Over time Ender adapt to the environment, against the authorities and continue to hone his ability to become the greatest fighter. The big question : whether Ender really stand a chance against the aliens who had devastated the Earth fifty years ago ?

Written and directed by Gavin Hood ( ' Tsotsi ', ' X - Men Origins : Wolverine ' ), ' Ender 's Game ' is one of the young adult adaptation is very likely to be a giant franchise like ' Hunger Games ' but failed to explore its potential. One of the main reasons is because of ' Ender 's Game ' does not involve the audience emotionally.

Unlike the case of the ' Harry Potter ' or even ' Hunger Games ', invited audience from beginning to sympathize with the situation faced by the main character. In ' Harry Potter ', is the fact that Harry was an orphan, raised by a family that is not fun and that he was a magician in the world where his parents killer will someday rise up and will try to kill him.

In ' Hunger Games ', we see a girl who struggles to support his family in a world where feeding is very difficult, because the mortality rate is very high hunger and his decision to replace his brother following a deadly game which is a government propaganda. ' Ender 's Game ' was not willing to give a little time to bring the audience dive into the background. Gavin Hood explained briefly in the film, but we were never asked to actually see the impact of an alien attack in the beginning.

Trigger - game invites Gavin Hood to direct viewers to follow the adventures of Ender Wiggins during training makes us less sympathetic to whatever he does. This thing is unfortunate because Gavin Hood has managed to create a visually exciting with action scenes are quite spectacular.

Asa Butterfield, after being ' Hugo ' Martin Scorsese in the film made a few years ago, this time appear quite charismatic as Ender Wiggins. Butterfield can be easily transformed as a formidable figure Ender to the most fragile though. Harrison Ford also provides a compelling appearance, it is quite rare she shows lately.

Hailee Steinfeld looks nice too, although his role is not really steal the show. Steinfeld able to maximize his acting karaternya although less explored further. The same thing happened with Viola Davis which should be further explored.

With electrifying music of Steve Jablonsky, ' Ender 's Game ' has managed to become a young adult movies are not cheap. But it takes something more than that to make the equivalent of Ender Wiggins Harry Potter or Katniss Everdeen. Sometimes, a person full of drama is not wrong - very wrong.
